Getting better photos

I love to take pictures but I am not a photographer. While I would love to learn to take better pictures, it is just not happening at this point in my life. Enter Elizabeth from EVZ photography. She recently took pictures of my Christmas and Winter skirt listed in my etsy shop. I love the way these turned out! Thanks so much Elizabeth!

MDS Hybrid Tags

A few weeks ago I made these tags for a friend. She gives a lot of baby gifts as part of her job and asked me to make her these for her stash. I love how they turned out! The entire gray part is made in My Digital Studio and printed as a photo. By using My Digital Studio I could...

1. change the size of the elephant to make a mama and a baby.
2. add the heart onto the elephants body and fill it with patterned paper.
3. flip the elephants to face each other.
4. make 20 tags really fast!
5. use the exact words she wanted for her tag instead of having to find a stamp.
6. print the background in Basic Gray and have the words in Whisper White.

Here is one of the boy tags. I used Marina Mist for the background and the Polka Dot Embossing Folder for the Big Shot.

This picture shows all the fabulous button colors from Stampin' Up! Designer Button collections.

This is the girl tag, mounted with dimensionals on Rose Red embossed with the Finial Press Embossing Folder.

For the girl tags I used Flower Brads in the Subtles Collection.

An Apron and A Bra

In a few weeks, my college roommate and I are going on our annual scrappin' weekend. This will be our 4th year going and we count down all year until our next Shack weekend. Each year there is a contest based on the theme and this year is recipes and the contest is aprons. I have always wanted an apron that I have made so I thought this would be the time to finally do it! I found a pattern {here} that I loved because of all of the ruffles. The fabric is Nicey Jane from Heather Bailey who is another one of my favorite fabric designers. I left the top part off and added some oversized pockets and it will be perfect for our scrapping weekend. The apron is now hanging in my kitchen where I can enjoy the fabric even when I am not wearing it!

Now for the bra. I don't have any pictures of this but just a funny story from college. Somehow Becca came into possession of an old, ugly dirty bra. I don't remember where it came from but it kept making appearances through out our college years. We would hide it in each others rooms, wrap it up in gifts that we gave each other and other funny things. Eventually the bra disappeared but I am thinking that I need to find a replacement and bring it along when we are away in a few weeks. How funny it would be to see her find it in her paper bin or in her suitcase! Hah! I might need to start visiting some thrift stores to see what I can come up with!

Doll #1

We have a new cutie at our house! A few months ago my Dad sent us the book Wee Wonderfuls: 24 Dolls to Sew and Love from my Amazon wishlist (Thanks Dad!). We started working on one of the dolls during little brothers naptime and finished her last week. I love this book! The directions are easy to follow and the guide in the back has great tips and instructions for the different kinds of stitches found in the book. Besides that, the dolls are all so cute!

I loved working on this project with my daughter. She enjoyed tracing the patterns to make templates for the legs, arms, head and hair. She also loved that I let her pick out all the colors we used for the hair, skin and eyes. The fabric is all leftovers from a long ago project, so I don't know where that is from. This is our third doll project so far and I'll post the others in the coming weeks. I hope to have a whole basket of dolls we make together before she goes off to school all day in a few years.

This is the same doll, made by my sister Laura. I love how the dark hair looks on this one...and those pigtails are just too cute!

One of the dresses I made is for a dinner/auction for a friend of a dear friend of mine. Sale-a-bration Sketch

Good Morning and welcome to another Saturday of Sketches! I hope you are enjoying all of the cards our sketch team has prepared for you today. For my card this week, I kept looking at it sideways and that just got stuck in my head as I was working. I used almost all Sale-a-bration items, just the words are from stamp set from the Idea Book and Catalog (Fabulous Phrases). I love all these products that you can earn for free and how well they coordinate.

Here is my card...

I made the scallop oval so that you can tuck in the front of the card underneath it and it holds the card shut. Here is a picture of the front when it is not tucked shut.

For those of you coming to my class in March, we will be making 2 of these flowers on pin backs. They are perfect for dressing up a coat, sweater or shirt. A sketch journal

Welcome to another Saturday Sketch. You can see the sketch to the side here, it is a pretty simple one for this week. For today's project I made a journal in My Digital Studio. It is just one of the options you can choose when you start a new project. You design the cover and it comes filled with lined note paper. It is 6 1/4" by 8 1/4" in size and comes as a vertical notebook. I love that Stampin' Up! keeps adding more options of projects to make with My Digital Studio beyond cards, scrapbook pages and bound books!

I also used one of the stamps that comes in the Sale-a-bration Digital Content CD. Can you find it? Look closely!

It is on the strip of paper going across the cover of the journal. I found a tip of how to use a stamp to make it look like dry embossing on the My Digital Studio community site that is set up for both demostrators and customers to be a part of. There are lots of great samples and ideas there, like the one I am sharing here. To get this look, I used a punch and filled it with the color Pear Pizazz. Second, you add a stamp in the same color as the paper. In this case, I added the big flourish in Pear Pizazz on top of the paper. You can't see the stamp you just added, but give a drop shadow and it looks like dry embossing! Fabulous!

Sketchy Circles

It is time for another Saturday Sketch challenge and I can't wait to see what everyone has come up with this week. I really had no idea where to begin until I started punching out circles from patterned paper and put them on paper. I think it turned out pretty cute.

I dressed up the background a bit by using the Teahouse Background stamp and the Framed Tulips Embossing Folder for the Big Shot. The paper and button are all from the Sew Suite product line, which I love! Can't wait to get my hands on some of that fabric!

Now we're off to see what Elizabeth created for this weeks challenge.

More Fun with Fabric

I can't wait to get my hands on some more of the fabric from Stampin' Up! Here are some of the projects that I made yesterday with the Springtime Vintage fabric and coordinating buttons. I have been doing more sewing for my etsy shop in the past couple of weeks and added some of these items I am showing today.

First up is a Ruffle Photo Album. It has 18 4x6" sleeves inside and will hold 36 photos. I have really been into making covers for books and Bibles and sewing anything with ruffles. I also recently purchased some patterns from Little Lizard King on etsy and will be trying some of these with my next purchase of Stampin' Up! fabric. Here is a close up of the buttons on the fabric, look at how gorgeous they all look together.

The second project is the Ruffle Notebook. It is a 5x5" lined notebook/journal with approximately 100 pages (I didn't count each page but about half ot it had 50 pages).

My last project was a cover for my Bible. This one used up most of my big floral fabric and doesn't have any buttons on it yet, I am thinking of putting one of the fabric flowers from yesterday's post on instead. It definitely needs a little something in the bottom corner yet. I do have custom size Bible covers in my etsy shop and will be adding more of those with Springtime Vintage once I get more fabric in.

Fun with Fabric

I ordered my first pack of fabric from Stampin' Up! last week. It arrived yesterday and I am in love! I have been busy sewing today and getting some ideas ready for my March class. We will be making fabric flowers that can be put onto a pin or hair clip. I will send out more information for this to my email list and post it on my calendar soon.

Simple Sketch

Happy Saturday Morning! I hope you will be able to find some time to create this weekend, either by yourself or with someone else. This week I worked on my sketch while my daughter was stamping with me. She was having so much fun stamping on some cardstock and all over my table with Melon Mambo and Rich Razzleberry...Yikes! It made me thankful for baby wipes!

Here is my card...I tried to keep it a bit simple today. I was trying to use the coordinating buttons that go with this paper pack but I just ended up using the 4 vintage brads in the corners for that part of the sketch. I do love this product line from the Occasions Mini Catalog that includes patterned paper, stamps, buttons, fabric buttons, pom pom trim and even fabric!

Sketch 118

I used paper from the 2011 Notable Desktop Calender Kit, which is also the same kit I used for the easel calender in my previous post and for my blog background and header. Can you tell I love that paper? And here is my card...

Easel Calendar

I LOVE the new easel calender option in My Digital Studio. I created one January 1 with the template and it came last week. (EDITED: The kit is called 2011 Notable Desktop Calendar Kit and is available as a digital download you can purchase. You don't need to purchase the kit to make this kind of calender, it just has all the calendar grids and these papers in it). It was super easy to customize and the quality is fabulous. Here are pictures of what the actual calendar looks like.

This is the cover page...
This is what the whole thing looks like from the side. When you send it to the printer, all the pages are right side up. They print it so that when it is open like this, you can see the picture from one side and the calendar on the other. Right now I have it by my desk with the picture facing me. When I need to look at the calendar, I just turn it around.

Here is one of the pages made from the template. Sometimes it had 2 or more picture spaces on each page and I changed it to just one big picture per page. I also changed the title on each picture page. Each one had the month in block letters on the label. I did not like seeing the page with the month since you can't see the grid part with it. The month was easily deleted and I added a caption or title of what we were doing in the picture along with the month and year it was taken.

You can see that the patterned paper that comes with this digital download is beautiful. I love how it matches the orange shirt in this picture. I also love how the spiral binding overlapped the label on this page...it really looks like it could be 2 separate pages of a notebook.

You can see here that the name of the month is printed on the calendar page.

Birthday Card Stamp A Stack

Here are the cards for my upcoming Stamp A Stack. We will be making 8 cards with envelopes. The cards all use the Bring On The Cake stamp set (it has 13 stamps in it!) from the new Occasions mini catalog. You can see all the details for signing up for class at my calendar. The cards also use some of the products you can get for free during Sale-a-bration, which starts January 25. The patterned paper, buttons, die-cut scallop border and ribbon all come from sets of embellishments and paper in the Sale-a-bration catalog. If you can't make it to class, you can still sign up and I will send you the materials in the mail ($5 mailing cost).

All of the cards will have the same layout and you can pick which stamps to use in the circle. You can make them all the same or all different. There are 13 different stamps in this set so you will have options for the stamping on the front and greeting inside. One of my favorite ones says "not just a year older but a year better".

I just love this stamp where you can color in the age of the recipient! There is even a st, nd, rd, th to circle to make 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. How clever!

Sketchy Calendar

Happy Saturday! This was a busy week back to school after 2 weeks of having kids home on Christmas Break. I used the sketch this week to make pocket calendars. The first one follows the sketch exactly and I love how that turned out. The pulling on the plastic cover is not so obvious in real life, just exaggerated in the picture.

I also love this second one although you have to use your imagination a bit more. Instead of having ribbon or paper on a diagonal, I used the needle in the bottom corner and the button in the top corner as the elements in that space on the sketch. There are so many fun details on this new paper! They even have an edge on this floral paper that looks like the edge of fabric with all the color details in the fabric line. Love it!

Here are both of the calendars with a gift tag ready to go off to Bible study with me. They are both going to people in a secret prayer partner type thing again.

Instead of heading over to Ruthie's blog, we are on our way to visit Leonie who is back after taking a break for a few weeks. Welcome back Leonie! I can't wait to see what she has come up with this week.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! I am glad you stopped by today to see our sketch challenge cards. When I was making this card, I was not thinking that it was going to post on New Years Day. Now that I am writing this, it seems the perfect greeting for the day. This is actually a birthday card for someone who has her birthday right after Christmas. She loves flowers and especially loves when you don't mix her birthday and Christmas. I know she will love this card.

Our sketch this week was fun to work with. I got a bunch of swap cards in this week and one especially inspired my scallop circle in the middle. I also don't often think of cutting up the background like this but I like how it turned out.

I am creating a new blog background with My Digital Studio! I have wanted to try this for a while and am having fun with the new calender kit. I am using directions from this blog...I hope it works!

Teacher Gifts

This week I worked on getting the cards and packaging ready for teacher gifts. I used the sketch for today to make another one of the cards. (I used sketch #109 for one of the cards too). Seriously though, using the sketches and the scrapbook kit, I made 25 cards in less than 1 1/2 hours.

Here is the card that I made using this sketch...

The cards all turned out so cute and I know the teachers will love that they are in Spanish. I used one of the Simply Scrappin' Kits from the Clearance Rack called Lo Mejor De Todo. Here is a close up of the tag I put on the package. Each pack has 5 cards with envelopes.

Welcome Saturday and welcome little one! Thanks for stopping by today. I finally made one of our sketch cards without rotating the original! I needed a baby card this week and thought this was a sweet sketch to use. I recently got the stamp set Fabulous Phrases and wanted to try that out too. I have loved those words since the new catty came out...what a fun set! Now on to my card...

I still love the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, it looks great on every project I use it on. I don't think I'll ever get tired of it!

Christmas Decor

My parents were able to come out for 4 days to visit me and my siblings. We had a lovely Thanksgiving together and we also had an early Christmas Party. The grandkids were all thrilled with this and my Mom even had some early gifts for us too. One of the gifts she gave us is this fabulous photo album. Isn't she adorable? (I'm talking about the little girl...but my Mom is pretty cute too).

Here is a close up of the ribbon and tag.

We also all got a framed picture for our home and the gift was wrapped with a beautiful ribbon and tag. I saved the ribbon with the tag and later found another use for it.

All of these items are now up on my mantle with some red and green berries. Thanks Mom for some new Christmas decorations!

Thankful for You

I hope everyone had a blessed Thanksgiving! As I write this my house is filled with the smell of red cabbage cooking for our Thanksgiving dinner. I know that by the time you are reading this it is Saturday, but it sure smells good here today! What is your favorite food for Thanksgiving dinner?

I rotated the sketch...again and made the rectangular piece a little larger. I love that Designer Series Paper! I don't usually do lots of Thanksgiving cards but I wanted to make one for my husband this year and the sketch for today worked perfectly. He is such a wonderful, godly man and I have much to be thankful for!

Sketch in miniature

Today's version of the UDI sketch challenge is mini! I found these cute, scented hand sanitizers at the dollar spot and got them for 2 'secret friend' type things that I am doing in my Bible study at church. I was trying to put together a cute tag for them when I saw the sketch we were using for this week. They turned out super cute! I love sketches and lately almost everything I make usually comes from one.

Here are some more tags I made using the sketch. These are slightly simpler than the others since I will be making lots of them. I put the ribbon where the 3 small dots are and left off the 2 small brads. These are for the Christmas tag swap that I hold each year for my customers.

The small images are from the Jolly Bingo Bits stamp set. I love all the images in that set! It has 24 cute little images and is found in the Holiday Mini Catalog right now. Here is a close up of the images...you can see where I sponged Old Olive ink on the small punched circles.

Quick and Easy Cards

I love making cards with Simply Scrappin Kits. As much as I love to stamp and get really creative, there is nothing like being able to make a whole lot of cards in a short time. I purchased this kit from the Clearance Rack a few weeks ago with the intent to make a bunch of cards as Christmas gifts for my kid's teachers. Today I realized they are not going to put themselves together and got started. I don't want to be working on them all the night before!

I used this weeks sketch for one of the cards and love the way it turned out.

My Digital Studio Sketch Card

Hello! It is Saturday again and that means it is time for another card for our Saturday Sketch challenge. For my card today I decided to use My Digital Studio so I can remind everyone to enter the contest being held by Stampin' Up! You have one more week to enter your designs and you could win almost $400 worth of digital downloads. Fabulous!

Now on to the card...

This card was super fun to make and now I can print 1 of them or 100! Another great feature is that I was able to change the size of the owl. In the original Play Date rubons, the owl is smaller than this. Using My Digital Studio, I could change the size of the embellishments that came with the kit. The 'hello' words were also made much smaller than its original size.

Bookmark Card

It is time for another set of sketch cards from UDI. I hope you enjoy seeing all the cards we make for you each week. When I saw this sketch, I knew I wanted to make cards with bookmarks. Before our Bible study starts each September, I like to make all the women in my group a book mark. This time I also included the theme verse for the year... "Be dressed for service and keep your lamps burning as though you were waiting for your master to return." Luke 12:35-36a NLT.

You can see in the picture that the leaves in the background are still green when I made this card. Now the trees are bare as we had a lot of strong wind this week that blew any left off the trees. I am a little sad when they are all off the trees but they are beautiful in their own way too.

Thinking of You Sketch Card

Welcome to another Saturday Sketch Challenge. We have been enjoying beautiful fall weather here in Michigan and have been spending a lot of time outside enjoying the colors and the new kittens in one of our barns. This week was a challenge...just take a look at that crazy sketch we had to use :-). I really had no idea where to start until I pulled out the Cute By The Inch stamp set, then the ideas started coming. I love this pack of paper from the current mini catalog, it is thick and textured and the colors are gorgeous.

I love the tiny holes the Eyelet Border punch makes and I carried that over to the Scallop Square punch. I also was able to get the Cajun Craze paper into the Border punch after I used the Square Lattice embossing folder...I thought it would be too thick to fit but it worked. Nice to know if you want to punch an edge of dry embossed paper.

Fall Stamp Camp

It is time for my annual Fall Stamp Camp. I can't believe this will be the 6th year for this event! We will be making a set of 6 blocks that are 3" square. With a letter on each side of the block, you will be able to spell more than 12 words to display in your home, including Peace, Love, Joy, Bless, Pray, Family and more! This will make a great Christmas gift.

The blocks can be placed next to each other or stacked on top. This collection of paper includes many colors and will look great in any home. The 6th block, not shown in this picture has Pear Pizazz for the background (the same green as the flowers in the last e block). I will be posting more pictures over the next few weeks. Stamp A Stack Card

Welcome to another Saturday Sketch Challenge from UDI. We have been enjoying some beautiful Fall weather here in Michigan and spending lots of time outdoors. You can see the sketch we all had to use to the right. I love the silhouette of this family trimming their tree. What a great scene for the front of a Christmas Card. This will also be one of the cards we will be making at my December Stamp A Stack.

I love how the ribbon turned out...the Old Olive Satin Ribbon was looking a little plain so I tied some of our Chantilly Crochet Trim in the knot of the Satin Ribbon. The image was also embossed with Black Embossing Powder and it has a great look to it too.

Double Challenge

Hi Everyone! Thanks for stopping by. This card is for the Utah Divas new color challenge. This week is #4 and the colors are Pear Pizazz, More Mustard, Riding Hood Red and Basic Black. Using these colors was a challenge for me...at first none of them seemed to go together very well. I am very happy with the way it turned out though and think the colors look great together. I also used the sketch from Mojo Monday, which I have not had time to participate in for a long time so I was glad to be able to combine the 2 challenges into one card.

I have been taking all my pictures outside lately and love how the pictures are turning out. I will have to figure something else out once my chairs are covered in snow. (I don't even want to think about that now!) You can go to both of the blogs, UDI and Mojo Monday to see other cards that were made for these challenges.

Amy Butler Love Rainy Days Hooded Raincoat

This coat is one of the sewing projects I have been working on these past few weeks. It fits perfectly and is probably one of the biggest pieces I have made so far. The only part left to finish is the button holes and I am waiting for my Mom to come out so we can do those together. I used an Amy Butler pattern called Rainy Days Hooded Raincoat and Runabout Jacket. The fabric is also Amy Butler, the laminated one is from her Love collection and the dots from Lotus. Fox and Friends

It's Saturday and that means it is time for more sketch cards. Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoy being able to hop along to see all the cards made by our design team. This sketch was fun and I had lots of ideas. You can see the sketch we all worked with to the right. For the past few weeks I have been trying to use a whale on my sketch card and it just wasn't working. Well today's card was a perfect one to use the animals from Fox and Friends, including the whale. (In case you are wondering about the whale, one of my kids just loves ocean animals especially whales. Another one loves owls. The third better pick one of the animals from this stamp set as his favorite and I'll be good to go!).

So here is my card for this week. I rotated the sketch...again. I love the Greenhouse Gala paper pack and have been waiting for the perfect card to use this zig zag paper. It looks fabulous on this card.

I love making a group of cards when I can and this sketch worked well for that. There are 2 more boyish cards and 2 girly, with the buttons. Although any of them could be for any occasion. I left them blank on the front and will use a small greeting set with the Modern Label punch when I go to use them.

Welcome to another Saturday Sketch Challenge. It is late on Friday night and I really waited until the last minute to get this one done! I usually get my cards done much earlier in the week but I have been doing some sewing...pillows and covers for the cushions on our couches. I will post some before and after pictures once I get it done. Back to my card for this week...

These two are just so cute together! This will make a perfect card for one of my kids teachers. I kept it simple, with not a lot of layers or even any Designer Series Paper.
Here is a close up of the cuties. I tried a different watercoloring technique which uses an aquapainter and our markers that you can read about here. The directions are easy to follow and I really like how it turned out.

Sketch 100!!!

Well, we are 2 weeks into the new school year so far and getting into the routine. I find I have more time for stamping now that one is at school all day. My daughter likes to craft with me in the basement while the 3rd one is napping.

Here we are at sketch #100!!! I had fun with this sketch and finally pulled out the new owl punch. It is fun to punch out all the shapes in different papers and play with all the pieces to see what looks the best. I turned the sketch on the side...again. I seem to do that quite a bit!

The leaves are from the 2-step bird punch and were the perfect thing for the corner pieces in this sketch. Now it is off to Ruthie's blog to see how she used the sketch this week.

Welcome to our Saturday Sketch Challenge. This week we are up to #99! I stared at this sketch all week with no ideas. I had nothing. Then Friday my son was home from school and playing with the Choo Choo stamp set. He thought the puff of smoke was a flower and I instantly had an idea for my card. I had pulled out almost every other stamp set this week trying to come up with something, but not this one. I totally love how it turned out. As Jan Tink would say, YILM! Translation...Yes, I love myself! ;-)

So here is the card. Great for boy birthday or even a man who likes trains. The man from Loads of Love Accessories fit perfectly in the train.

Welcome to another sketch challenge! When I saw the sketch for this week, I first thought of the new hostess set, Apple Blossoms. The long stem/leave stamp is perfect for this sketch. I also wanted to use some of our new buttons. I am in love with them and they have been finding their way onto most of my projects lately. Some of them are the same style as we have had in the past but there are some new ones and they come in so many colors!

It's that time again!

Time for you to get a cup of coffee and check out how we all used the sketch this week. Here is the sketch we were all working with today. I knew I was going to make a sympathy card and wanted to keep it simple. I almost always turn to this stamp set when I am making a sympathy card lately.

The Woodland Walk DSP is a gorgeous pack of paper. I have seen this comment on other blogs as well, but it is totally true. The paper does nothing for me when I see it in the catalog, but is beautiful in real life. I saw some fabulous cards made with it and that is what got me to buy the paper pack. Look for some more cards with it in the next few weeks.

It's Not Too Early to Start Thinking About Your Christmas Cards!

Welcome to yet another edition of the Saturday Sketch Challenge Blog Hop. I have really enjoyed having a sketch to work with each week. It gets me stamping when I otherwise don't make the time. I can't believe how refreshed I can feel after some time stamping! We had a pretty easy sketch to work with this week, yet those are the ones I stare at the longest before I can get started. I flipped the sketch to the side and used 2 of my favorite new stamp sets...Perfect Punches and Greeting Card Kids.

I really, really love the new buttons. There are so many colors and they look fabulous on my projects. This one is in Cherry Cobbler but it looks great with the Riding Hood Red Paper and Ink I used on the image.

Travel Thanks

Welcome to another Saturday Sketch Challenge. Thanks for joining us today! At the end of my post you can hop on to the next blog or at any time, go back to UDI to get a list of who is participating with a link to their blog. Here is our sketch for today. I moved the square panel to the other side so it covered the smaller part of the triangle. I did this so I could make a tri-fold card.

Here is the card. I made this for my parents who we will be traveling with in a couple of weeks.

After I was finished and photographed the card, I thought it looked like the car hit the suitcase! I was really going for a collage look, not an accident! LOL.

The Compass piece is held on with dimensionals on 3 sides so the top piece can be tucked underneath. This holds the card flat instead of the top piece trying to unfold on its own. Here you can see how it looks when untucked.

This is the card opened up all the way. Still lots of room for writing.
With all the excitement of the new catalog, don't forget about the Summer Mini Catalog. The Designer Series Paper and Stamp Set is still available for the rest of August. Now it is off to Ruthie's Blog.

Good Morning! It is time for another Saturday Sketch Challenge. This is the first time that I had a hard time with the sketch. Maybe because I was trying to do boy birthday cards which don't allow for very many accessories. Here is the sketch...

These monsters are super fun to play with. The set comes with 3 monster bodies and 12 different stamps for making a mouth, eyes, hair (or horns) and spots. I can see using these for lots of different kinds of cards.

Friends Frame

This is a frame I made this week as a gift. I have had this frame sitting around forever...at least 2 years! I am really happy with how it turned out, so much that I wish I had another frame! The whole project was made with Riding Hood Red & Pear Pizazz Ink, Riding Hood Red & Very Vanilla cardstock and Love Letter Designer Series Paper. I love how great all this paper looks together in a project like this!

Here is a close up showing the bitty buttons, a flower and butterfly cut on the big shot and a couple flowers from the Friends Never Fade stamp set.

This close up shows another stamped flower from Friends Never Fade, the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch and a square I made with the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, Antique Brads and another Big Shot Butterfly.

I have had this stamp set for a while and this is the first time it has seen ink. These bears are so cute and I love how cute her paper pieced dress looks! Here is a close up of her dress. I also paper pieced the balloon. All the patterned paper came from the Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack.
The inside is easy to customize for the age of the recipient.

Saturday Sketch Challenge

It's time for another sketch card from the UDI Saturday Sketch Challenge. Here is the sketch...#91 already! I had a hard time figuring out how to stamp on the tilted piece in the sketch so I added a layer on top of it...that's not cheating, is it? ;-)

Yesterday I showed you a card from with the little girl from Greeting Card Kids and I have used her again for today's card. I also used Love Letter DSP, Antique Brads, Teahouse background and the dotted scalloped ribbon border punch... oh my! I am just loving all the new stuff in the catalog.

Now it is off to Elizabeth's blog to see her lovely work!

The Greeting Card Kids that is! This is one of the new stamp sets available in the Catalog and I just love them! I don't usually go for stamps that need a lot of coloring but they are just too cute to pass up. I do enjoy watercoloring with ink and an aquapainter and that is what I did for this card. The sketch is from Mojo Monday this week.

Welcome to another edition of the Saturday Sketch Team! Here is our sketch for this week.

I started by using a color combination from the new Color Coach and it inspired me to use this hydrangea stamp that is part of the new hostess collection. The color combination is Marina Mist, Certainly Celery and Whisper White. I changed it to Very Vanilla since I wanted to use watercolor paper. The new Color Coach is great and I have already used it a lot. It is just one of the great new tools in the Idea Book and Catalog. Here is the card...

And here is a picture of one of the flowers from my garden too!

saturday sketch

Welcome to another Saturday Sketch Challenge. I flipped the sketch again this week. I tried doing it vertical like this but I just kept getting horizontal images in my mind. I was also not going to use the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing folder again but I couldn't help it.

I totally love how my card came out. This Daffodil Delight Paper is awesome and so is the Greenhouse Gala Designer Series paper!

To see the flower closer up, you can click on the photo and it will enlarge. I tried getting a close up but it just kept coming out blurry. Taking some photography classes is definitely something on my long term to do list. I have always wanted to take better pictures and not just spin the dial, push buttons and hope for the best. ;-)

To make the flower, I used the flower fusion embosslit for the Big Shot. It is one of the small (almost 2"x2") and super skinny dies. Not the big foamy ones. It has 3 sizes of a flower on it and I cut them out, then crinkled them up and pulled the layers of the paper apart again. I am definitely going to have to teach this in my classes and put a few more pictures on here soon so those of you who don't know what I am doing can figure it out. If you have done this before, you know exactly what I am doing. If you have not, my descriptions are probably not helping you figure it out! It's time for pictures.

Sneak Peak

Hi Everyone! Here is the sketch from Carol for our Sketchy Saturday Challenge at UDI.
Today I have a sneak peak for you from the new catalog! The new idea book and catalog is absolutely fabulous! I love all the new colors, stamps, buttons, ribbons, papers...I could go on and on, but I won't. You just want to see the new stuff and here it is...

Here is an up close picture of the paper strip, buttons, and textured background.

The bitty buttons and punches are in the Summer Mini Catalog right now. I don't have any ribbon in the new colors yet, so I altered my paper instead. To get this look, I rumpled the paper quite a bit until starts to peel apart at the edges. Then I pulled one of the corners and pulled a layer of paper off the original sheet. Hopefully this makes sense, it is an easy way to change the look of your paper.

Gettin my mojo back

It has been forever since I have made time to play along with the Mojo Monday sketch for the week! I was able to follow the sketch pretty closely except the repeating strip on the bottom...there are supposed to be 3 of them but I couldn't make it work for the card I wanted to make. I need a baptism card for this weekend and also have been waiting for an occasion to use this stamp set. It is on the last chance list so make sure you get it before it is gone! It also has some nice words for weddings and I will need to use it again soon for a wedding this summer.

Thanks for stopping by today! Some of you have hopped over from Barbara's blog, I hope you enjoyed her card. (She also happens to be my mother and I think her cards are always fabulous!!) I have joined the sketch team at UDI, a group that I have been a part of for 3 years now! This means I will be posting my card for the challenge every Saturday and hope you will join us. Leave a comment with your submission ... we would love to see your interpretation of the sketch!

I turned to the Summer Mini Catalog and used the Sentimental Journey Stamp Set and Travel Journal Designer Series Paper. I loved the way the card turned out and wasn't happy with a way to put the sentiment on the outside, so it is stamped 'Happy Father's Day' on the inside.

Here is an up close picture of all that wonderful texture in the background. I used the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, which is also in the Summer Mini.

Here are some pictures from some of our projects over the past few months. I'll put a brief description by each photo. Enjoy!

Coasters we made for my son's teacher and both aides in his class. We used craft ink and glassy glaze enamel, then baked in the oven. They are even more beautiful in real life.

Here you can see some of the shiny glaze on the flower image.The coasters packaged up and ready to go to school.
Valentines made for school and my Valentine class for Mom's and kids.
Bags that we stamped today to bring Valentines to school. (For those of you who don't know, my kids go to an immersion school and their teachers speak Spanish all day. If you have questions about that, I would love to talk you about it!)
Air Heads were the candy of choice this year for my son. We used the Petal Card die for the Big Shot to make the holder.
Pages for my recent Crop and Drop class.
Burp cloths made for a friend who is having baby #5 any day. I also made the tag. It looks so cute all tied up that I almost didn't want her to untie the burp cloths!

Gifts class

These two items are for my upcoming class in December. Come make fun and easy gifts to give or to keep! See my calender for all the information to sign up. The first item is a candle that we will decorate using the Medallion stamp set. Isn't it gorgeous?!?!? It is out with my fall decorations now and will still look great when I put out my Christmas stuff in a few weeks.

The second item is a stacking calender. Perfect for keeping by your computer or other tight space where you otherwise don't have room. I am always getting up from my computer to look for a calender and now I won't have to anymore. The blocks have the 12 months of the year on them and they rotate so you always see 3 months at a time. After January is over, you take out that block, turn it and put it on the bottom of the stack to see Feb, March and April.

Here are the pictures for our main project at Stamp Camp this year. I will be posting pictures of the second project later this week. These blocks were designed by Jen Rysdam, who I will be organizing the event with. If you would like more information, you can find the details on my calender of events. You will be making 1 set of 4 blocks. One side will spell 'NOEL' and the other side, 'SNOW'. You can stack them like you see in the first picture or set them out in a row like the second picture.

Upside Down Mojo

Hi Everyone! Yesterday was a great day! My husband took the 2 older kids to the beach and the baby slept all afternoon...I had lots of time to stamp. It felt so relaxing to sit and stamp the afternoon away. I took the Mojo Monday sketch down to my stamping spot with the idea of making a pocket card with a book mark in it...once I flipped it upside down, it worked perfectly! The Oasis starts next week at my church, the Bible study for women on Tuesday morning. I am one of the small group leaders and wanted something special to mail to the women in my group this week. I hope they enjoy these!

One more picture to share today. As I was loading the pictures onto my computer, I turned around and this is what I saw. First you can see my Uncle's garden and then past that is our family farm. That is Spice out there in the pasture, which happens to be my Son's favorite pony to ride. As I turn around now, there are 3 more ponies that joined him. Birthday Calender

Here are some pictures of the birthday calender for my upcoming class. You can find the details at my events page. There will be 2 options when you are making the calender. I wanted mine to match the card organizer box so the first option is to use the same colors and images as in the Razzleberry Lemonade DSP. The first 2 pictures here show that option on the month of January. We will do each month the same and add ribbon to 3 or 4 of the pages so it shows out the side. You don't have to decide which way to stamp your calender until you get to my house.

The other choice is to do each month differently. The next 2 pictures show ideas for each month of the year. I just stamped a few of the images from each set so you would get an idea of what you can stamp.

Card Organizer Class

Here are some pictures for my next class. We will be embellishing a card keeper box and stamping a birthday calender. I'll be posting pictures of the calender early next week. For more detailed information on the class, you can see my calender at my Stampin' Up! business website. I first saw this idea on the Stampin' Up! Youtube channel. There are lots of great ideas over there...make sure you check it out!

Here is a close up of the dividers, each is labeled for a different kind of card. You can also label them with each month of the year and organize your cards that way.

Here is the box with the lid on it. Each divider is covered with cardstock and then a piece of Razzleberry Lemonade Designer Series Paper. You can see the first one through the front of the box.

This is another stamp set that I fell in love with from the new catalog. Maybe because I have a daughter who loves the My Little Ponies or because I played with them as a child too. We also have around 25 ponies on our farm too so we love everything with ponies and horses on it. You should see my daughters collection of shirts with horse and ponies on them! They are taking over her closet! Anyway, I made this card for her birthday and she is going to love it!

Mojo Birdy

Here is my card for the mojo monday sketch this week, #98. When I saw the circle, I knew right away I wanted to use this bird from the new hostess set, Wings of Friendship.

I used one of the buttons from the new collection called Playground. This month you can get free buttons from Stampin' Up! Spend $35 on stamp sets from the Growing Up section of the 2009-2010 Idea Book & Catalog (pages 74-90) and receive a FREE package of Designer buttons--a $7.95 value! Includes the following buttons...Playground, Sherbet and Button Latte. I used markers right on the stamp to color the leaves and flowers. After stamping and cleaning the ink from the marker off, I stamped the bird in Crushed Curry, cut it out and added it to the stem with dimensionals. Again, another fabulous layout/sketch from Mojo Monday. I have been trying to make time every Monday night to play along with the sketch for that week, so that might be all you see around here for a while. With such great sketches, hopefully you will be seeing some fabulous cards!

Look Who's Turning...

I have started to get some stamping time in! Last night my husband walked the baby around while I went to my stamping space to work on this weeks sketch. It felt so good to just sit and stamp and not worry the baby was going to wake up while I was trying to play along with a sketch challenge this week. I used sketch #96 from Mojo Monday and I also used the color inspiration from Kristina.

I needed 2 boy birthday cards this week so I took out my new stamp set, Look Who's Turning. It has to be one of my favorite new stamps from the catalog! Just look how cute these cards turned out!

Here is a close up so you can see all the dimension I added to the card with the piece of celery cardstock and the animals. I forgot to take a picture of the inside but each has the boys age inside (that is the same as the background I made in the circle). I stamped the number on Whisper White cardstock and punched it out with a circle punch. Then it says Happy Birthday on the inside too.
This is how I got the square, scalloped card. I used the new scallop square die from Stampin' Up. This is a picture just of the die.

Then I put a piece of real red card stock over the opening, positioning it so that it didn't cut out one side of the scallopes. You want to start with a standard size card and put the fold just under one of the edges. This is not my own idea, I have seen it around on many blogs already and wanted to try it out. It was super simple and turned out so cute.

I hope to find some more time to stamp soon! I miss some of the free time I had before the baby was born but I am cherishing each moment with him now. He will grow up too fast!

I made some time this morning to make a card for the mojo monday sketch this week. It has been weeks since I have been able to participate so I was glad I made a few minutes to play. We have a birthday coming up in our family soon so I used the Birthday Bot from this set called Lots of Bots.

What I've been up too

Before you read my post...you have to go check out Sweet Baby Things. Then you can come back and look at my pictures. ;-) I met Monica last year and got to know her better at our church's Bible study. I have been blessed by knowing her and would love to have you go check out the new (and fabulous) dresses that she has on her site.

A couple weeks ago I promised pictures of the sewing I have been working on while getting ready for our baby to arrive. Finally, here they are. At our ultrasound, they told us it was a boy but if we end up having a girl, you will see this stuff get added to my etsy shop!

This is a blankie made with Minkie. I had to fold it funny for the picture because it has the baby's name on it.

Birthday

Just popping in to show you my page from last weekend for my scrapbook club and a birthday card I made for the Mojo Monday sketch challenge today. I needed a birthday card for someone this week and my stash is getting quite low so I used the sketch for today and one of my favorite stamp sets...A Little Birdie Told Me. I have also been busy and was glad I made some time for stamping!

There is also another little surprise behind the card that I hope the recipient enjoys! It is wrapped in Good Morning Sunshine DSP.

Here is the page we made for my club. We used the new Jumble Alphabet and pieces of the Sweet Nothings Simply Scrappin' Kit.

I will not be posting much right now since we have started the field trips at our family farm. We have around 100-150 kids each day coming for pony rides, hay rides, animal feeding, barn tours, and fishing. This is one of our busiest months all year! I have also been spending some time sewing more stuff for the baby and soon the baby will be here! I'll try to share some pictures soon of all the stuff I have made so far.

Nesting

I should be getting ready for my scrapbook club meeting on Saturday. Instead, my nesting instinct has taken over again and I am cleaning the toy room. I mean really cleaning. I am vacuuming every surface, getting rid of junked toys, cleaning crayon off the wall, rearranging...you get the picture. Usually when I get the nesting bug, I start sewing, even if is isn't something for the baby. Sometimes I have to clean a drawer or closet, but today it's a whole room. At least I am ready for my class on Thursday and I still have a few nights to finish my page for Saturday.

Week 16 of 52 sketches

I got my page done for this week! I love the sketches at this site and am bummed I missed a few weeks in there. Oh well! I can always go back to work on those later. I love how this weeks page came out. I used the cutter kit on almost all the paper edges to distress them and really wrinkled up the circles that I cut out. I was also able to use up lots of scraps from my Bella Rose DSP paper pack too. Yeah! To see the sketch this week, check out the blog here... 52 sketches. Although there are new episodes of Curious George on today and that is my 1/2 hour to play in the afternoon.

The first page uses the Crew Kids Boy Simply Scrappin Kit and some more Thickers. I got them from Pages in Time near Grand Rapids, MI.

This second page is using a kit that I found at Hobby Lobby...I am always on the lookout for good horse pages/embellishments/kits. The ribbon came from some spools that were at the crop room over the weekend and were not marked.
